You are cordially invited to join Nova Southeastern University
and
the Broward chapter of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic
Engineers (IEEE) as they welcome Pulitzer Prize and National Book Award
nominee Edwin Black for the worldwide launch of his new book, Internal
Combustion.
The book, which has already received
a red star rating from Publishers Weekly, forcefully details the rise
of battery-powered electric automobiles a century ago, and how that
effort was undermined and subverted in favor of the internal combustion
engine and the oil cartel.
Black’s address, entitled “How We Became Addicted to Oil and How to
Break the Addiction Right Now,” will offer insights the author has
gained in researching the book, as well as timely solutions for the
future. NSU’s main campus is especially fitting for the international
launch of Internal Combustion, as Black made extensive use of NSU’s
Alvin Sherman Library, Research and Information Technology Center in
researching the book.
